a weekend exploring a vintage fair

When you buy a piece of vintage clothing you're not just buying the fabric and thread - you're buying a piece of someone's past."

Isabel Wolff (A Vintage Affair)

A quick post and update about a glorious weekend away which took in the International Antiques & Collectors Fair, an event held at Shepton Mallet over the weekend of the 18th -20th March. Described as the premier Antiques Event, one of many events the IACF organise up and down the country.

We visited on the sat with the weather glorious and hundreds upon hundreds of stalls and stands offering a great spectacle of antiques and vintage goods. I could have spent sooo much more money and fell in love with so many beautiful pieces, from french antiquties, to fantastic marcasite encrusted jaguar brooch from the deco era.....not forgetting a sensational Red faded through to Coral Kimono. It was indeed a day to feast the eyes and I'm totally hooked and cannot wait for the next one.

I also met some interesting and colourful sellers with great expertise and entertaining stories besides fabulous vintage to offer us wanderers.  A great day out...... so until i upload my many images from the day I'm going to leave you with the following images to browse.
Taken from my vintage collection also images from the blogs of some of the vintage sellers . Enjoy!

Beautiful Coral Pink Sequin Dress from my private collection.

Amazing french furniture, storage crate, metal water jug and distressed french bureau- images from La Belle Maison

An array of vintage shoes, handbags & floral displays- image courtesy of the wonderful seller from The Snooty Fox.

I would so love to have this Chest sitting majestically in my hall - taken from a previous IACF event.

Still vibrant vintage Japan Kimono fabric- why not frame your favourite piece of vintage Kimono fabric? Makes for a great picture. Try your local charity shop for a cheap alternative for a good frame.

An old image of Japanese Geisha's in their vintage kimono's.

An Edwardian Guilloche bracelet. Silver & Floral beauty.

From the ever popular Lea Stein this is a celluloid panther brooch from the art deco period. Love the simplicity.

Vintage Crochet textiles in the most utterly gorgeous colours.

Image taken from http://www.washerwoman.blogspot.com/  The most amazing stand displaying all kinds of vintage jewellery, handbags, clothing and the utmost glorious vintage textiles! The above image is from the Cath Kidston catalogue, they stumbled upon the stand at a previous fair and loved it like I did and so requested they use it as a backshot for their shoot! How fab!

I hope you have enjoyed the images and would love you to share your visits and buys from your favourite vintage fairs.

Also sign up for postings and updates on all the coolest and best vintage & antique fairs up and down the UK.

Until next time.
